election 2024

Here we go again, thankfully.
We still have a Democracy & a voice to vote after the insurrection
of January 6th 2020.
Things could be far different if it wasn't for those who defended
the Capitol, the fair election & our Constitution against Trump's marauders.
Sadly, even after his loss, he just won't go away.
So yes, here again we have the most consequential election of our lifetimes.
Pitting our current Vice President, Kamala Harris
against probably the most corrupt person to ever hold higher office.
The twice Impeached, four times Indicted, convicted Felon &
national embarrassment, former President Donald Trump.
This is not some crazy nightmare.
But it is a test.
A test of the resiliency of our Democracy & government &
the decency of our people to make the right choice.
Sadly, many citizens don't have a problem with Autocracy & Fascism
as long as their side wins.
Now is the proper time for Thoughts & Prayers for America
and what we wish for the world & future generations.
Please choose wisely when you vote.

epilogue

11/8/2024
The election results were a disappointment for truth & justice.
And a damning refutation of decency.
I truly thought/hoped America was better than this.
Now we will see how much damage can be done to trust
in government, faith in our fairness, Liberty, civil, women's &
voting rights and whether we continue to address climate change.
The integrity of our government may be permanently compromised
once partisans take over. Expect to see entire departments politicized
or eliminated per the 2025 agenda.
The free press & free speech will be threatened.
Unfortunately, unless there has been some unknown interference
in the vote tally, Democracy worked, the majority wanted this outcome.
I have been an activist for social & environmental justice
my entire adult life, but the last 10 years have been exhausting.
The political T.V. ads, avalanche of fund raising texts & emails has been overwhelming this election cycle.
For my own mental health I will tune out for a time.
I've turned off all my phone alerts, given up my news watching habit
and will try to limit my newspaper reading to the comics.
Laughter is the best medicine, as they say, after all.
Besides, I've seen that fat face & heard that name enough for a lifetime.
Tired of the hate, outrage & chaos.
ENOUGH.
This may be the silver lining I've been looking for:
Time.
For constructive & creative things.
I won't be blinded by the distractions that waste my time alive.
And once I've rested,
I'll be ready to jump back in the trenches again
in defense of Liberty & Justice...for all.
