notes
Welcome to my world!
Sheer Luck was a song title of mine from long ago,
that today, I thought was a fitting name for a project featuring
only me.
It also speaks to the role chance & luck plays in life.
Of success or failure, legacy or infamy.
Nothing is guaranteed.
Some things are within our control but many things are not.
How we deal with them is what matters.
The songs & recordings presented here
are, like me, not perfect.
But they are honest examples of what I've been
trying to do musically all my life.
Some of the songs gathered here I wrote in the 1980's
and were influenced by the policies of the Reagan administration.
Several reflect more current events.
They were chosen because I thought they had important
messages to share given our recent political turmoil & culture wars.
I'm surprised that many of my songs have stood the
Test of Time and are still relevant.
They are songs about right & wrong, values & unity
in a time of world social and political upheaval.
As it came together, I could see a theme emerging
and decided to make Sheer Luck a concept album.
It begins with a Warning and wish that a song could change the world.
Then addresses immigration, the environment, turmoil & tyranny,
reconciliation, alienation, new beginnings, unity,
activism & protest and finally, when all is said & done,
the value of friendship and the limits of our mortality.
I knew these songs would come in handy someday!
They've prompted me to reflect on what's really important in life.
I'm thankful to have them to keep me preoccupied in my old age!
My
Original, No Frills, Rock Music.
Thank you for listening!
