David bowie r.i.p
David Bowie will always be remembered as a trendsetter, a barrier breaker, the likes of which,we may never see again. He paved the way for a kind of creativity that pushed the envelope of normalcy in new, sometimes strange, but beautiful ways. Countless artists, who otherwise, may have never been, have followed in his footsteps.I'm thankful I have lived in a time of so many iconic musicians! I hate to see them grow old & leave us. I got to know Mr Bowie's music during his Ziggy Stardust period & below is a rough version of Suffragette City I played in 1978 in my band Hit-n-Run. I also wanted to play one of his songs, here, now in tribute, so I chose Five Years, off the same album.
The imagery & imagination that went into the lyrics, the word play & counterpoint,is incredible. I also liked the unconventional song structure,(quite like some of my own) plus I wanted to do a great, but more obscure song. Thank You,Mr Bowie, for all you gave us!
