Earth day
Note: This was my first Earth Day message from 2016.
Happy Earth Month! Just wanted to take a minute to appreciate that our world is still
habitable, and we may be making progress. I've always felt a connection to nature,
growing up in a small rural town. I was in Scouts, had pets & eventually a horse, planted
gardens with my Dad & spent a lot of time outdoors. My first exposure to "Ecology" and
Environmentalism, was through my Mother. The chemical DDT was was devastating
the American Bald Eagle, our nations symbol. A corporation had a program that set aside nesting areas for them if you sent in their product label, which my Mom did for
me. I was 11 & it was 1971. I got a sticker & a poster (!) you can see in the slide show below. As I got older, I've supported a number of organizations dedicated to protecting the environment. I have a few songs below with an environmental theme. Please do what you can, reuse, recycle, try to use less chemicals, it's all in our best interest to conserve the only planet we have. I want to thank Woody Guthrie for his great American song: This Land Was Made For You & Me, & apologize for my use or misuse of it.I hope it was kind of in his spirit that I
was inspired to parody his song. It's a pretty rough recording, forgot I had done it.

Forever Evergreen ,off my Archive II collection,is my most blatant tree hugging song.
I could see the smog from the city coming up into the valley where I lived. This song
is a double track, where I recorded guitar & vocal to one tape, then replayed it & recorded to a second machine while I played the woodwind instrument, the Recorder.
Pretty rough, but good enough for the record. The word of the day is "Record".

We can make a Difference is my go-to activist song. "A world that's safe.from toxic waste" makes it relevant for Earth Day.
