Dickey Betts
R.I.P
12/12/1943--4/18/2024
Forrest Richard "Dickey" Betts
was a hell of a great guitarist, both lead & slide,
that helped catapult the Allman Bros to fame in the 1960's & 70's.
He was also a great songwriter, penning some of their best loved songs.
Rambin' man was my introduction & a commercial hit, but was just a
sample of what his & the Brothers talent was all about.
In High School Art class we listened to Live at Fillmore East while we created.
Whipping Post would last almost as long as class!
They were the original Jam Band with epic 20-30 minute productions
Southern Rockers that were like nothing else at the time.
Another one of a kind artist that made music a better place.
