Glenn Frey & the Eagles,personified 1970's Southern California music. Desperado was the theme song for the homecoming dance at my high school in 1976.
I didn't really consider their music Country at the time,just another form of Rock. I can
remember getting ready for a Boy Scout camping trip in 1971 & hearing an early Eagles
song on the radio & wondering who it was. When I waited for the D.J. to announce the
band (cause they did that in those days), I thought he said " Beatles " not " Eagles ",
and I thought, great! they're back! just sound different.I learned the difference soon
enough & Glenn Frey & Don Henley joined Lennon & McCartney, among the great
songwriters.It's funny I didn't learn any Eagles songs except Best of my Love at the time. When I decided to do a song of theirs for this, I chose Tequila Sunrise because Mr Frey sang lead & I've always liked it. It sets a mood, paints a picture you can imagine & is Country Rock at it's finest, in my opinion.Thank you Mr Frey, for making the musical
world a better place!
