R.I.P
EDWARD VAN HALEN
On October 6th 2020 we lost a guitar legend.
Edward Van Halen was, & always will be, the innovator that took Rock guitar
to the next level. His trademark playing techniques, such as two handed tapping
expanded the sound palette of the guitar forever. I am in awe of so many great players, but I doubt I will see another like him in my lifetime.

Here's a couple of cool songs by former Van Halen frontmen Sammy Hagar
& David Lee Roth that I though were a fitting tribute to Edward.

The first time I saw Van Halen was in 1978
at Anaheim Stadium with Boston headlining with Black Sabbath & from
Fontana Ca. The Red Rocker , Sammy Hagar before he joined the band.
I was an aspiring guitarist fresh out of High School hoping to be there myself someday.
Five years later they were part of the 2nd day line-up at the US Festival
held in San Bernardino Ca. in May of 1983.
In 1991 I saw them a 3rd time at the Pacific Amphitheatre
with Alice in Chains. We bought tickets for the 10th row from a ticket service
for about $200.00 apiece, a far cry from the $12.50 I paid in 1978!
The last time I saw them was in 1995 back in San Bernardino
at what was then known as Blockbuster Pavilion.
This was the Balance tour with Skid Row & a band called
Brother Cane opening. What a great show!
I'll always remember these times & am thankful to have had them.
Van Halen would go on to further innovation, building his studio 5150
in Studio City Ca., designing amplifiers & a line of guitars
that could emulate his unique sound. His son Wolfgang would
eventually join the band with the exit of Michael Anthony.
Previous front man changes gave us the talents of David Lee Roth,
Sammy Hagar & Gary Cherone, formerly of Extreme,
and back again. Brother Alex was there through thick & thin.
So sad to see a relatively young talent snuffed out by Cancer.
Hopefully progress toward a cure will happen soon.
Thank You Eddie, for all you gave.
Your Gift really was your Present to us.
