Happy 33rd Wedding Anniversary Betty, you make my life worthwhile.
I Love you!
I Love you!
May is a special month for me because it is the anniversary of my marriage to the
kindest, most loving person I've ever met; my wonderful wife Elizabeth. We met,by
chance,in 1987 while she was actually dating my best friend. We got to talking and
found we had so many things in common, from our world view to our taste in music
& movies, that the attraction was a destiny we couldn't deny. I'm thankful we found
each other,as I had had a lot of drama in my relationships up to this point,( as you
may notice in some of my songs). I always made an effort to not write too many
Silly Love Songs as I found most of them cliche & I wanted to show imagination
and try to write about other, more interesting, compelling topics. I did fall into the trap
a number of times over the years though, & I dedicate any of the happy love songs,
even from before we met,to her. Melancholy Monday, was actually inspired by "Betty"
because after spending the weekend together, it was always sad to see it end &
have to go back to work. The song still isn't finished to my satisfaction, but I guess some things are sometimes beyond words. I've written too much & this is kind of personal, but I needed to take a moment to honor this woman, my best friend, my soul-mate who has helped make my life complete. Here are several versions of Melancholy Monday & I've added what I think is my best love song, Our Love, below.

Oops, I guess I didn't know how to spell "shining" at the time!
Melancholy Monday is part of Archive VI, which I will launch here in 2017.
Below is another early version with Robert on drums recorded on a portable
cassette recorder in a bedroom at the Pershing street house.
